There is a Full Moon rapidly approaching and it will fall on October 24th. This is the Blood Moon or, depending on the location, the Hunter’s Moon. The latter name is not at all coincidental because of the season in which this full moon makes its appearance. In late October the hunting season used to be thriving and hunters were gathering their supplies before winter. The Hunter’s Moon marks the height of the autumnal harvest right before the cold and scarcity of winter roll in.
For our ancestors, this was the time to gather their provisions and plan accordingly for the cold months as their life depended on it. So, honoring our ancestors and celebrating their heritage is the best ritual to follow during this moon phase. Photos and family heirlooms as well as symbols of the season such as colorful leaves, pumpkins, apples, and chestnuts should be used for this ritual. This powerful observance of the forefathers will remember their legacy and at the same time safeguard the well-being of the living family.
An easier approach to this ritual is to simply share a meal together as a family and become united in positive thoughts. This observance will be rewarding and highly effective because of the exchange of positive energy between family members and it is more than likely that it will create a stronger bond between those involved. This is the only full moon of this month therefore the ritual needs to be planned in good time for the moon phase.
The element in focus during October’s full moon is air. This element is directly related to the power of communication and the travel of thought. Therefore, take this into consideration before engaging in any serious or potentially harmful discussions during this time. Throughout this moon phase, there is a need for positive thoughts and conversations. This is not the right moment for conflict or tension.
Lastly, bear in mind that October is the month when the veil between the physical and the spiritual world lifts and the potential for contact is at its highest. This is the opportune time for unlocking your spiritual growth and reaching out to those who have passed over to the other side. The change of energy caused by the season will affect even our dreams thus it is a good idea to pay attention to the messages sent to us while we sleep.
We live in an age when many of us are much too busy with our daily routine and it is easy to forget to look up and observe the magic of the sky and its stars. However, taking time out of our busy schedule to admire the night sky even just for second can make us forget about the meaningless tasks we occupy ourselves with. And, on the nights blessed with a full moon it is especially important to pause and take in as much as energy as possible from the moonlight.
